Description

Known as "The Saint Albans chronicle"; not the same compilation as the "Chronicles of England" first printed by Caxton (STC 9991-4).
Title and imprint from colophon, leaf 2b7r.
The first leaf has a large cut of the royal arms. The motto "Hec rosa virtutis de celo missa sereno. ..." is in two banderoles supported by angels, the robes of which have sashes decorated with circles.
Some errors in foliation: leaves 46, 118, and 126 foliated xlvii., C. Xvii., and C.xxii.
Signatures: 2A? a-z? [et]? [char.]? 2a? 2b?, A-C? D?; (2b2 and C1 signed b.ii. and C.iii.), 2b8 and D4 blank.
"The descrypcyon of Englonde", an excerpt from the "Polycronicon" of Ranulf Higden, has separate title page and register, following leaf 2b7r.
Device of Wynkyn de Worde on leaf 2b7v and D3v. Imperfect: lacking preliminaries (first 6 leaves, 2A1-6), leaves f4, h6, o1, r1, and D2-4 (final 3 leaves).
