Abstract

This bond has been engraved on watermarked paper in blue and brown ink, with text printed on top in black ink. There is a thick, decorative border, and two signatures visible near the bottom. Two red six shilling stamps are present on the left side, with a rectangular stamp in the center near the bottom. The verso side has been engraved in blue ink with text printed on top in black ink, the text contains the details of the bond. At the top of the verso side, there are five interest coupons attached by three staples.

Part Transcription: "Bond No. [blank]. Chinese Imperial Railway, Gold Loan, £2,300,000 Sterling 5 per cent. (Imperial Railways of North China). Chinese Imperial five per cent government guaranteed bonds. ... In witness whereof His Excellency Sir Chih Chen Lo-Feng-luh K.C.V.O. Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary of His Majesty the Emperor of China to Her Majesty the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland Empress of India has hereunto set his hand and Official Seal this First day of July 1899 [blank]."
