Added engraved title page: Description historicall & geographicall of the countie palatine of Chester & illustrated with diuers figures cutt in copper & published by Daniel King of Chester 1656 "Epistle dedicatory" signed by Daniel King. "The vale-royall of England" (caption title) begins new pagination on 2A1. "Chronicon Cestrense" (caption title, dedication signed "Samuel Lee") begins new pagination on 4A1. Within this series, "A short treatise of the Isle of Man" (dedication signed "James Chaloner") has separate dated title page and pagination. Also attributed to Sir Thomas Browne. Signatures: pi A-N? O? ( -O4) 2A-3G? 3H-3I 3K1 4A-4G? 4H? ( -4H4) 4I-4M? 4N1. Numerous errors in pagination; text continuous despite pagination. Errata: page [1], 5th sequence; page 33, 9th sequence. Indexes: pages [2]-[4], 3rd sequence; pages [2]-[10], 5th sequence. Some illustrations signed by Wenceslaus Hollar or Daniel King. A variant of the edition with imprint: London, printed by John Streater in Well-Yard in Little S. Bartholomews, and are to be sold by the severall booksellers of London. 1656 Bound in red goatskin with gold tooled frame on boards. Signed: "Bound by W. Pratt." Binder's signature is damaged and missing a few letters. Signature identified based on examples in the British Library's Database of Bookbindings. Reproduction of portrait of Roger Payne (1739-97) with seller's description--removed to item file; old scrap of paper with "The Pretender, No. 29 --" written on one side, and "The Pretender, given me by Mr H. B[...], June 26. 1792 on his return from Rome" written on the other side--removed to item file.
