Abstract

This bond has been engraved on watermarked paper in red and black ink, with text printed on top in black ink. There is a thick, decorative border, and several signatures visible near the bottom. A red ten shilling stamp is present in the upper right corner, with several rectangular stamps near the bottom. The verso side has been engraved in red ink with text printed on top in black ink, the text contains the details of the bond. A sheet of coupons is folded in on the verso side, and several have been torn away. The coupons have also been engraved in red ink on watermarked paper with black text printed on top. On the verso side of the coupon sheet, there is a blue symbol for the company for each coupon, and a section of text with a red engraved background.

Part Transcription: "Bond No. [blank]. Chinese Imperial Railway, five per cent gold loan for £3,250,000 sterling. Shanghai-Nanking Railway. Chinese Imperial five per cent government guaranteed bond. ... In witness whereof H. E. Wang Tahsieh, Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary of His Majesty the Emperorof China to His Majesty the King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland has hereunto set his hand and seal. [blank]. Countersigned for identification: For The British and Chinese Corporation, Limited. London, 1st June, 1907. [blank] Director."
