Abstract
An early municipal bond, for a loan of £50. The loan is for the Corporation of Liverpool, written as No. 0701, on the 12th of November, 1794. It is addressed to 'George Sterling', more commonly known as George III, King of Great Britain, 1738-1820. There is a decorative sidepiece on the left, which has been cut in a waved pattern for security reasons. A vignette is visible in the top left corner. The loan is a form engraved on watermarked paper in black ink, and some information has been filled in by hand. On the recto side there are two visible signatures, one reads "John Wilson". A handwritten note is on the verso side, and it includes the date 12th November 1795.

Transcription: No. 0701 Liverpool 12th November 1794, Twelve months after date promised to pay to George Sterling, , , , , , or bearer fifty pounds with interest for the same after the rate of four pounds 11/3 lent by the year for the corporation of Liverpool. Signed by: the Mayor John Wilson
