Description

In the preface to volume III, Smith explains that poor health and family afflictions forced her to turn over the third and final volume to an unnamed "lady, who, I have no doubt, has proved herself competent to the task." Gina Luria Walker identifies the unnamed author of volume III as Mary Hays.

Binding: contemporary tree calf with gilt and morocco to spines; all edges speckled brown.

Imperfect: closed tear to pages 363-364 of volume I; rear endpaper excised from volume I; paper flaw to lower corner of pages 357-358 of volume II.
