Abstract

A share transfer written by hand as a manuscript on watermarked paper in a bifolium. One page has a docket title, two pages are blank, and one page is written text with signatures at the end of the text. There is a half penny sheet stamp, and an embossed paper six pence, one shilling stamp. Beside the Right Honourable John Lord Sheffield's signature is a red wax seal.

Description

Transcription:

I the right honourable John Lord Sheffield in the consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain paid to me by Sylvester Douglas of Lincoln Inn in the county of Middlesex Esquire do hereby bargain sell and transfer to the said Sylvester Douglas his executors administrators and assigns one share of the undertaking of the river Ouse Navigation. To hold to firm the said Sylvester Douglas his executors, administrators and assignes subject to the same rules and orders and on the same conditions that I held the same immediately before the execution hereof. And I the said Sylvester Douglas do hereby agree to accept of said one share of the said undertaking subject to the same rules orders and condition. Witness our hand and seals the eighth day of September in the year of our lord on thousand seven hundred and ninety
