The name of the city the company is from, Butler Pennsylvania, is printed perpendicular to the main body of text, on the left side. There are two signatures visible, and the embossed seal of the company in the bottom left corner.

Transcription:$50 This is to certify that the State of Pennsylvania is the holder of one share No. 132 of the Capital Stock of the Butler and Mercer Turnpike Road Company, on which the whole amount has been paid, and transferrable on the books of the company only. In testimony whereof the president and treasurer of said company, have hereunto affixed their signatures, together with the corporate seal of the company the 16 day of October A.D. 1823.
