East London Water Works

This document validates the transfer of a share in the East London Water Works from John Buck to William Murrell. This transfer has been engraved on parchment, and filled in by hand in some sections. There are two decorative sidepieces on the left, with an embossed revenue stamp on blue paper that has been adhered to the document in the middle of the sidepiece; the other sidepiece has been cut in a striaght line for security purposes. The headpiece includes the title of the company. At the bottom of the main text there are two signatures to the left, one for a witness [last name, Proctor], and one for the chief clerk and secretary, T[homas] N[elson] Pickering. There are two signatures in the bottom right hand cornern, one is John Buck's, the other is William Murrell's, and both signatures are accompanied by a red wax seal. On the verso there is a handwritten docket title summarizng the transfer, and a stamp.

No.120 These are to certify that Robert Simpson of Hoxton in the county of Middlesex of Esquire is a proprietor of and entitles to one share, being No.120 entered in the registry book of the above undertaking and is by virtue thereof one of the company of proprietors of the east London water works, Incorporated by an Act of Parliament based in the forty seventh year of the reign of his majesty King George the third for establishing the said water works and insurance thereof given under the common seal of the said company at my chambers in paper buildings in the inner temple London this 18th day of September 1807
